Jackalope Mornington Peninsula
The Jackalope merges a heritage farmhouse with modern structures, all in black, that echo agricultural buildings. A seven-metre-high sculpture out front presents an impressive welcome; executed in black aluminium, it depicts the mythical North American animal – a jackrabbit with antelope’s horns – for which the hotel is named.
Inside, big-city styling is realised via a daring design brief that combines a predominantly black-and-gold colour scheme with theatrical touches, statement-piece furnishings and a laudable bias towards regional designers.
